Veteran Mental Health Panel Discussion
On 5/20/25, our Veterans Committee held a Veterans panel for Mental Health Awareness Month. At the “What Helps, What Doesn’t” event, Veterans spoke candidly about their own experiences with mental health services as well as experiences of their peers. This frank and open discussion with clinicians provided participants with information on how best to engage and work with Veterans of different eras.
Special thanks to St. Vincent’s Hospital - Harrison for hosting and Dr. Jennifer Spitz for moderating our event with our incredible panelists: FSW’s Vet2Vet Director Gabriel DiCola, NAMI Westchester Board member and Active Duty service member Carleen Ybarra and Westchester Veterans Alliance Chairman and COL, Ret. (NY Guard), ENFN (U.S. Navy) & Vietnam Combat Veteran Chester Edwards.

Gun Lock Distribution Event
On 5/6/2025 and 9/14/2025 respectively, our Veterans Committee held our first- and second-Gun Lock Distribution Events. May's event was held at the American Legion Leroy Gregory Post in Scarsdale and September's was held at the VFW Post 1156 in Larchmont.
In addition, firearm cleaning mats, medication lock bags and swag items were extremely well-received by all. Use of the gun locks was demonstrated in addition to providing other firearm safety information.
Thanks so much to all who made these events possible and for coming out and supporting us!!!
We expect to schedule more events like these in the coming months.
